Smoothies & Shakes
Milkshakes and smoothies are where liquid spice earns its keep. Powder sinks, clumps and grits. A drop disperses evenly through cold milk or a blender jar, so the last sip tastes like the first.
The rule of thumb: 1 to 2 drops per glass. Add the drops to the liquid before you blend, not on top of the ice.
Cardamom Mango Lassi Shake
Blend 1 ripe mango, 150 ml chilled curd, 100 ml milk, sugar or honey to taste, and 2 drops Cardamom. The elaichi lifts the mango instead of competing with it.
Cinnamon Banana Shake
Blend 1 banana, 200 ml cold milk, a spoon of oats, and 2 drops Cinnamon. Breakfast in a glass, ready in a minute.
Golden Turmeric Smoothie
Blend 200 ml milk or oat milk, half a banana, a spoon of honey, and 1 to 2 drops Turmeric Latte. Serve chilled, or warm it for a golden latte instead.
Vanilla Cinnamon Thickshake
Blend 2 scoops vanilla ice cream, 150 ml cold milk, and 2 drops Cinnamon Vanilla. A bakery style shake without opening a single jar.
Nutmeg Cold Coffee
Blend 200 ml cold milk, 1 shot of coffee, sugar to taste, ice, and 1 drop Nutmeg. Nutmeg and coffee are an old pairing for a reason.
Mint Chocolate Shake
Blend 200 ml cold milk, 2 spoons cocoa or chocolate syrup, ice, and 1 to 2 drops Fresh Pudina. Mint choc chip, minus the chopping.
Cassia Chocolate Smoothie
Blend 1 banana, 200 ml milk, 2 spoons cocoa, and 1 drop Cassia. Cassia is bolder than cinnamon, so it carries through the chocolate.
Spiced Buttermilk Cooler
Not a shake, but too good to leave out. Whisk 200 ml chilled buttermilk with a pinch of salt and 2 drops Buttermilk Masala. Serve over ice.
A few tips
- Start with one drop. You can always add another, but you cannot take one out.
- Add drops to the liquid, never neat onto ice or fruit.
- Shake the bottle before use so the extract is evenly mixed.
- Blend for a few extra seconds after adding drops to disperse the flavour fully.
